Become a Junior Ranger as you explore your local National Wildlife Refuge!
Love learning about new habitats? Curious about wildlife? The Refuge's Junior Rangers at the Refuge program is perfect for your family! Join them each month to explore the Don Edwards SF Bay National Wildlife Refuge through fun, educational activities.
This June, they are celebrating a special Father's Day at the Refuge so you can learn all about the Western Snowy Plover, whose males do some heavy-lifting when it comes to caring for chicks! You'll learn about their habitat, lifecycle, and more through a series of engaging activities. Then, you'll complete a Snowy Plover craft to take home.
The Junior Ranger program is perfect for families with elementary-aged children.
Other Considerations:
- Please register each parent and child for their own ticket. This helps the Refuge know how many attendees to expect.
- Parent/Guardian must remain with child for entire program. Younger siblings are welcome!
- Driving Directions: The Refuge recommends using Google Maps to navigate to 1751 Grand Blvd, Alviso.
- Wear comfortable clothing, sun protection, and comfortable walking shoes. Also recommended: a filled reusable water bottle, and you are welcome to bring a lunch or snack.
- ADA-compliant parking spaces, trails, and restrooms/portable toilets are available on-site.
- With the exception of service animals, pets are not allowed in this part of the Refuge.
- If you need any more accommodations, please don't hesitate to reach out to [email protected].
This program is brought to you by the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society (SFBayWS), the Friends group to the US Fish & Wildlife Service, with support from the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP).
