Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex is made up of seven national wildlife refuges, protecting tens of thousands of acres of habitat for birds, endangered species, and other wildlife. Learn about these incredible places, with a focus on our largest, the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in the South Bay, at this free San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory virtual presentation. Sirena will also discuss what the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society and other partners do to help the refuges, the challenges the Refuge System is facing, and some ways you can help.

Speaker Bio: Sirena Lao works for the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society (SFBayWS), the nonprofit Friends group authorized by Congress to support the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex. In her current role, she splits her time as the Watershed Watchers Program Coordinator and as the Executive Director. Before joining SFBayWS, she was the Education Specialist and a biologist with SFBBO, and it was in this position that she was first introduced to our local National Wildlife Refuges.
