On June 30th, 1972, the Refuge was officially established as part of the National Wildlife Refuge system and became America's first and largest urban national wildlife refuge. As part of its 50th anniversary, the Refuge is throwing a birthday party!

The event, Celebrating 50 Years of Conservation: Past, Present and Future, aims to celebrate and honor the past, present, and future and inspire people to experience, connect with, and protect our cultural and natural resources. Refuge staff hope you can join them in helping with the celebration on October 8th, 2022.

The event will be at the Refuge headquarters, 1 Marshlands Rd. Fremont, CA 94555.
